Sweep You Up
My Friend
d    Naeemah is the new R&B. Raised in North Philadelphia, her sound is a new and unique combination of jazz, funk, soul, and rock that gels into something easy to listen to, catchy, and up-lifting. Her voice is infectious, like the song of a Siren, floating through octave after octave, all while holding a beautifully classic tone almost lost in the vocorder age. Her voice is an instant classic and so are her original compositions. She cannot perform unnoticed. Every time she appears, whether it be the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia or the legendary Whisky A - Go-Go in West Hollywood, audiences are left dying for more. Her outstanding talent is unavoidable and her hooks, melodies, and song writing are unmatched. Her music transcends genre, gender, race, and age as it touches everyone's true musical passion: great music that makes you feel good. Her 12 song debut LP, Hard Time, has received critical acclaim and practically sells itself at performances.
Naeemah is not only ready to ascend the ladder of popular music royalty but she is ready to inspire a whole generation of girls to pick up the guitar and speak their minds. Her music fits into so many genres: easy listening, soul, R&B, rock, and hip-hop. She has undeniable appeal, unforgettable hooks, and infectious melodies. Her music definitely speaks for itself.
During the past year Naeemah has performed literally from sea to shining sea at notable venues such as The Bitter End, Pianos, Kenny's Castaways, The Mercury Lounge in NYC; World Cafe Live, The Northstar, The Trocadero, The TLA, in Philadelphia; and at The Derby, The Whisky A Go Go, and Kibitz in Los Angeles. In February of 2008, Naeemah performed at the Roots 5th Annual Pre Grammy Party/ MTV Rock the vote event at the Key Club in L.A. Naeemah has performed on the same bill with artists as diverse as Seal, the Roots, MC Lyte, Doug E Fresh, Travis Barker from Blink 182, Patrick Stump from Fall Out Boy, Corrine Bailey Rae, and Bilal.
Rarely does any singer/songwriter accomplish the fusion of R&B and rock so seamlessly and effortlessly. Variously compared to artists such as Alanis Morissette, Jeff Buckley, Prince, Stevie Wonder, and Tracy Bonham, Naeemah seems destined to create her own inimitable archetype.
